Designer Portfolios Debut on Design Center Web Site

The Merchandise Mart offers design professionals an opportunity to promote themselves and their services to potential clients from the Chicago Metropolitan area and beyond. Last October, Merchandise Mart Properties, Inc. debuted Designer Portfolios on its Web site, offering a venue in which consumers can find and learn about interior designers.

Recent surveys indicate consumers are interested in high-end product and design, but do not have the know-how to achieve it. To help consumers learn about and select interior designers in a pressure-free atmosphere, we will feature designer portfolios on The Merchandise Mart Design Center’s Web site, www.merchandisemart.com/designcenter, which hosts 7,000 visitors daily, each averaging 10 minutes per visit. This is a valuable venue to display your design philosophy, projects and contact information to a viable, targeted audience.

The Merchandise Mart, as one of the strongest resources in the country for couture design products, has a strong association with the interior design industry. We receive many phone calls each week from consumers interested in shopping The Mart and finding an interior designer. These inquiries are now directed to our online Designer Portfolios.

Additional visibility will be provided to Designer Portfolios via events and shows, DreamHome, general advertising, LuxeHome™ events, on-site signage and more.

If you are interested in featuring your designer portfolio on The Merchandise Mart Design Center Web site, you will find a summary, application and rules at www.merchandisemart.com/designcenter. Applications for additional portfolios will be accepted until May 1, 2006 and new additions will go live in July 2006.

Kelly Hoppen for Century

Century, Suite 1700

Kelly Hoppen for Century is a collection of fabrics, upholstery, wood and metal case goods created by the celebrated British interior designer. The serene, contemporary gestalt that Hoppen has brought to her exclusive roster of high profile clients and their internationally acclaimed homes will now grace the Century showroom.

Call it cool, calm and collected. Call it East meets West. Call it contemporary with a hint of spiritual depth. Or, simply resist the need to label and acknowledge that the Kelly Hoppen look is the look of the early 21st century. The crème de la crème, from style-struck superstars to royalty and international corporations, want it. And the British designer is happy to oblige. Her aim has always been to "bring Europe to the U.S.A." Kelly has an idealist approach in fusing the old–world European Classicism with a breath of modern, thus creating a timeless elegance. Small wonder, then, that she has placed her evermore- coveted name on an impressive range of products for the home ... and now that list includes furniture.
