Taking inspiration from the exquisite Catherine Palace, a residence built in 18th century Russia on the outskirts of St. Petersburg, is Baroque Embroidery wallcovering from Phillip Jeffries Ltd. Enveloped in the grandeur of the period, Baroque Embroidery wallcovering is an elegant, sweeping vine motif embroidered of delicate gold thread atop a sumptuous moiré background. Available in four shimmering colorways, this collection captures the essence of ornate design, detail and the dramatic emotion of the period.
7. Donghia, Suite 631
“Women’s Work: A Common Thread” is the new spring 2007 collection marking Donghia’s second collaboration with the Museum of Art of the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD). Nineteen artifacts became the jumping off point for the Studio’s creative interpretations of items as varied as Native American Crow Indian moccasins and 18th century Flemish lace. The uniting theme is that each piece was handmade by women, as was typical in their respective cultures. This collection honors this historical “Women’s Work” in a modern day exploration of fibers and color, weaves and texture, though Donghia relies on the latest in contemporary manufacturing techniques to articulate today’s common thread in beautiful textile design.
