A citywide celebration of art, antiques, design and culture
Chicago’s broad shoulders extend their powerful reach to embrace the energy and excitement of a citywide celebration of art, antiques , design and culture called ARTROPOLIS™. At the center of it all will be Art Chicago™, America’s longest running international contemporary art exposition, and The Merchandise Mart International Antiques Fair™ celebrating its 10th year as Chicago’s preeminent, world-class antiques market. More than 100 of Chicago’s major cultural institutions, museums and entertainment venues will co-promote ARTROPOLIS at concurrent events in April. Art Chicago 2007 will be held on the 7th floor of The Mart, where sophisticated collectors and art aficionados will find up to 150 of the most influential gallerists, featuring thousands of art works from exciting artists in the world’s contemporary art market today. Among the featured exhibitions will be New Insight, an exhibition of work by 24 emerging artists who are graduating from the top Masters of Fine Arts programs in the U.S.
The newly rechristened Merchandise Mart International Antiques Fair will feature 115 leading antiques and fine art dealers from around the world and will be hosted in 40,000 square feet of space on the south side of the 8th floor of The Mart. Don't miss the Paris Antiques Market at the Fair— a new pavilion featuring several dealers from Paris' famed Marche aux Puces de Paris!
Three satellite art fairs will be held concurrently in the Mart Center complex, including; The Artist Project, an exhibition dedicated to independent, established and emerging artists, The Intuit Show of Folk and Outsider Art, and Bridge Art Fair. Educational programs, guided tours, music, theater and dance performances are planned at a variety of venues throughout the city: from major museums to small galleries, from world-class concert halls to cutting-edge clubs, from lakefront parks to exclusive private parties.
Advance tickets will go on sale in March. For more information, visit www.artropolischicago.com. |
