Bio
Gregga Jordan Smieszny Inc., founded over 30 years ago as Bruce Gregga Interiors, is known for creating approachable, luxurious interior spaces that are clearly and cleanly defined. The end product — timeless settings that reflect the homeowner's personality, the character of the site and space and the objects within them.
Alex Jordan is Co-President of Gregga Jordan Smieszny and has served as a partner in the firm since 1997. Jordan is passionate about fine art and antiques and possesses the unique ability to combine such pieces with contemporary furnishings to create timelessly elegant interiors. Jordan has over 30 years of experience with work featured in major design publications, including Architectural Digest, House & Garden and Chicago Social.
As the lead project director and designer, Jordan is involved in all of the firm's projects. He supervises the work of the design team from the initial design development through the final installation of the project.
Having attended New York's Pratt Institute, Jordan initiated his design career in New York with Stephen Mallory Associates, where he worked for over 10 years. In 1988, he joined Bruce Gregga Interiors, becoming a partner in 1997.
Dan Smieszny is Co-President of Gregga Jordan Smieszny and has served as a partner since 1997. A long-time admirer of Bruce Gregga's work, Smieszny was mentored by Gregga, and served in an apprentice position for several years. Smieszny began to supervise the work of the architectural design department, working on a wide range of projects throughout the country and abroad. In this capacity, he gained invaluable experience working with some of the most notable architects in the industry.
Assisted by his staff, Smieszny focuses on the architecture of each of the firm's projects — from small renovations to full scale, ground-up designs.
Smieszny earned his Interior Design degree from Harrington Institute in Chicago. In 1980, the last year of his studies, he joined the firm of Bruce Gregga Interiors. He has a passion for landscape architecture and garden design and he enjoys the opportunity to design for the firm's clients, as well as collaborate with their landscape designers.
