Green with Style
It is possible to have it all: high style, comfort, high quality and a high regard for the environment. High quality products with style that utilize intelligent design, conservation and recycling are the focus of this office.
The Century sofa is constructed with a sustainable hardwood frame, 50 percent recycled springs, and cushioned with soy based eco-friendly foam, natural fibers and goose down. The Kravet upholstery fabric is 100 percent linen. The Duralee pillow fabric is a combination of natural fibers and recycled milk containers.
The Hokanson geometric pattern rug is the epitome of beauty and durability with sustainability. It is handwoven of 100 percent wool and unbleached cotton with pure rubber latex backing.
The armless settee by George Smith is made of natural hardwood, cotton, hemp and boar bristle. George Smith is proud of the fact that they do not out source any aspect of their production, creating local employment opportunities with apprentice programs thus ensuring that each piece of furniture and the domestic materials used to make them to accrue the smallest possible carbon footprint during production.
The settee upholstery fabric by Hugh St Clair is washed sanforized hemp. Hemp is fast growing. It needs no pesticides preventing run-off and allows the soil to return to its natural state.
The Area International wall covering is hand-made grass cloth, a quickly replenish able resource that is harvested bi-yearly and backed with recycled paper. The lamp shade is even made of recycled newsprint, from Creative Visions.
Now you can let go of the guilt, reduce your footprint … and go Green!
It’s all right here at the Design Center at The Merchandise Mart. All you have to do is ask.
