Sitting Room

The Sitting Room in the Dream Home 2010 is designed to be an informal, fashionable and comfortable spot to sit down and relax. The inspiration for this space came from the clean-lined, elegant Madison sofa from Scalamandre. The sexy, spirited, hot pink velvet was also carried on to the Kensington Chaise from Scalamandre, while the ottoman says this client is well traveled with an appreciation for pure luxury.

The tension created between the classic and eco-friendly Tented Stripe wall covering from Farrow and Ball and the layering of luxurious Scalamandre velvet gives this space dimension and is appealing to both men and women. Scalamandre draperies and Metropolitan X benches as well as Urban Archaeology’s Architectural Reading Lights celebrate form and function, as a simple bound Pecola Wheat sisal from Stark Carpets keeps the look current, casual and looks great bordered by Birger Juell hardwood floors.

The deliberate absence of electronics in this sitting room may offer a clue to who this client is. She is a well-traveled woman in a creative field: opera singer, television producer, interior designer, advertising executive … She loves a great book, a glass of wine, is not afraid to express herself through color and most importantly loves to relax by being surrounded by beautiful things.
