Chicago Interior Designer of the Year
The Design Center at the Merchandise Mart and Luxe Interiors + Design magazine are proud to announce Richar as the winner of the 3rd Annual Chicago Interior Designer of the Year Awards. This recognition program celebrates interior design talent who have made a significant impact on Chicago's design community. Richar started his own firm in 1982 and has since won numerous awards recognizing his keen sense of style. See below for his full bio and portfolio images.
Richar and other nominees were honored before a crowd of more than 500 industry professionals at an award gala held at the Merchandise Mart. The great Maya Romanoff was also honored posthumously in a touching tribute.

Richar is French Canadian from Ottawa, Ontario.
He studied at Ottawa University and Algonquin College in Canada.
Richar started his own firm in 1982 after serving an apprenticeship with James Callahan Interiors of Palm Springs then working for several years as an assistant to Bruce Gregga of Bruce Gregga Interiors.
For several years, Richar was a contributor to the Design Forum feature in Chicago Social magazine.
Richar has been bestowed numerous awards recognizing his keen sense of style and has been featured in many noted publications including; Architectural Digest, Better Homes & Gardens, Chicago Home & Garden, Chicago Magazine, Chicago Social, Chicago Tribune, Design Architecture, Designers West, House & Garden, House Beautiful, I 4 Design, Luxe Home, Metropolitan Home, Robb Report, The New York Times, Trend Magazine. His work has also been featured in Spectacular Homes of Chicago and Modern Interior Design / American Collection hardcover books.
